In the cradle of silence,
truth was born,
A whisper on the wind,
a dawn yet worn.
But cowards trembled at its sound,
Their hearts shackled,
their minds bound.
Free speech
—our sacred,
untamed right,
A beacon in the darkest night.
It cuts through lies,
it tears the veil,
In its wake,
the timid quail.
They fear the words that set us free,
The ones that dare,
the ones that see.
For in the truth,
their facades fall,
Revealed as shadows on the wall.
Yet still,
they try to cage the voice,
To silence those who dare rejoice.
But speech,
like air,
cannot be chained,
Its power vast,
its force unfeigned.
It speaks of justice,
speaks of pain,
It sings in sunshine,
cries in rain.
It stands alone,
defies the crowd,
It roars defiant,
clear,
and loud.
For speech is not the polite refrain,
Nor words that only bring us gain.
It’s the challenge to our deepest fears,
The voice that echoes through the years.
So stand,
and speak,
and let it be,
The truth will set your spirit free.
No coward’s chains can bind the sound,
Of free speech,
unbound,
profound.
Protect it,
hold it,
cherish well,
The stories that it dares to tell.
For in its light,
the world will see,
The power of our liberty.

‘The thing about free speech is, free speech is all speech. Free speech isn’t for the nice stuff. It isn’t for the socially acceptable stuff. Free speech is the speech that challenges you.”
