We speak our truths,
yet in their minds,
our words may twist
like restless vines—
entangled in the soil they know,
where shadows of their past still grow.
We act with care,
our hearts laid bare,
yet not all eyes
will see us fair.
For every soul has walked a road
that shapes the weight
their judgments hold.
So let us live
with spirits free,
unbound by what
they choose to see.
With kindness as
our steadfast star,
we’ll find our peace
in who we are.
For when the dusk
yields into night,
and borrowed visions
fade from sight,
we’ll rest—untouched
by borrowed view,
at home in all
we know is true.
And in that stillness,
deep inside,
we’ll feel the grace
no mask can hide.
Free from the need
to bend or bind,
we’ll guard the
precious peace we find.

Author’s Reflection:
This poem was born from the quiet knowing that we cannot control how others interpret our actions or words. Each person sees through a lens shaped by their own memories, fears, and history. Rather than bending ourselves to fit their expectations, we can anchor in kindness and integrity, finding peace in staying true to who we are. That is the freedom of being — a calm that cannot be stolen by another’s perception.
