A Personal Review by Samantha Syrnich TLC
August 10th, 2025
There are rare moments when a song comes along that feels like it was written just for you — almost as though you were its muse. Scream What Saved You by Daxlin Veylo is exactly that for me.
Uploaded to YouTube at 4:00 a.m. this morning, this blues-soul masterpiece is a raw and romantic sound to my heart.
I first heard it today, and it instantly resonated with every part of my story — everything I have endured.
The raw power of blues and the soul-deep expression of acoustic soul speak a language I understand. It’s the sound of the truth I often find easier to write than to speak aloud. It’s the scream I don’t always release in words, but one I can pour out through music — played loud, whether while writing or driving down country roads with the wind rushing past.
This song is more than music; it’s an urgent call to authenticity, an unflinching statement of suffering transformed into vocal liberation. The lyrics don’t just ask the question — what saved you when the world felt too heavy? — they demand you to speak it, own it, and set it free.
For me, Scream What Saved You is an anthem. A cathartic release. A reminder that we can take our pain, our survival, and our truth, and turn them into something that roars louder than anything meant to break us.

Lyrics – Scream What Saved You
Mmm…
Still here?
Still standing?
Then say it!
You hid your truth behind a grin
Bit your tongue and pulled it in
Told yourself, “just one more day”
But every step you walked — you paid
You learned to shout with just your eyes
Gave the world your best disguise
But silence don’t protect your soul
It only hides the fight you hold
So breathe in
And breathe out
Don’t hold back
Don’t shut it down
Let it out
NOW!
Scream what saved you!
Say the name that pulled you through
Say the hurt that turned to truth
No more holding, no more wait
Let it rise and detonate
Scream what saved you!
Like a fire from the floor
Like a voice that don’t ignore
You took your fall without a sound
But got back up and shook the ground
No choir sang, no angels flew
Just you and pain — and what you knew
You kept on walkin’ through the mud
Screamed alone and bled in blood
But now the world’s gonna hear
The voice that got you here
Say it now
Don’t you stall
One deep breath
Then break the wall
Yeah… let it hit…
Scream what saved you!
Let it ring from skin to soul
Let it fill the part they stole
Raise your truth above the shame
Let your thunder own your name
Scream what saved you!
Louder than your past
Louder than the hurt that lasts
You don’t owe them pretty lines
You don’t owe them soft replies
You owe yourself the sound you need
So let it go
Let it… bleed
Scream what saved you!
Scream it raw, scream it clean
Let it say the in-between
Let the walls break like a wave
Let your voice be what you gave
Scream what saved you!
Scream what saved you!
Scream what saved you!
Now.
Mmm…
You still here?
That’s what saved you.
