Sailing in High Winds

“We must free ourselves of the hope that the sea will ever rest.
We must learn to sail in high winds.” — Aristotle Onassis

The sea is wild,
its fury untamed,
No promise of calm,
no peace proclaimed.
Waves crash with force,
relentless and bold,
A tempest of trials,
a story untold.

In the heart of the storm,
where fear takes its toll,
We search for control,
a handhold to hold.
But the sea will not rest,
no matter our plea,
Its power reminds us of what we can be.

So we must release this hope we clasp tight,
That calm will return with the fading of night.
Instead,
we must learn to sail with the gale,
To master the winds that threaten to flail.

For in high winds,
true sailors are made,
Their courage and strength are fiercely displayed.
They harness the storm,
they dance with the tide,
Their spirit unbroken,
their will as their guide.

So let go of the wish for an easy,
smooth sea,
And embrace the winds that set our hearts free.
For the journey is rich with the tempest we face,
And the joy is in sailing with strength and with grace.
