A Personal Review by Samantha Syrnich TLC

Some songs don’t just play in your ears — they stake a claim in your soul. I Took Back My Shadow by Daxlin Veylo is one of those rare tracks.
From the opening line, it’s a confession and a victory march all at once — the sound of someone stepping out from under the weight of years and standing in the full light of their own truth. It’s blues and grit, wound and glory, raw enough to feel like it was written in the dark hours before dawn when the only company left is your own shadow.
I don’t need the whole lyric sheet to tell you what this song does — I feel it in my bones. It’s the moment you stop asking for permission to be free and simply take yourself back. The shame doesn’t get a seat at the table anymore. Fear becomes a banner you carry, not a chain you drag.
Listening, I didn’t just hear a song — I heard my own heartbeat answering back. And for those few minutes, I wasn’t fighting my shadow. I was dancing with it.
