A Healing Presence: The Medicine of You

by, Samantha Syrnich TLC

When the ache arrives like thunderclouds,
You walk in—
tail sweeping proud.
No stethoscope,
no white coat worn,
Just eyes like sky after the storm.

A silken hush,
a heartbeat near,
You press your soul to all I fear.
Your breath—
like jasmine on the breeze—
Untangles pain with quiet ease.

You carry sunlight in your fur,
A living flame,
a gentle purr
of presence wrapped in warmth and will—
The kind no doctor’s hands can fill.

Your gaze is amber,
sea,
and fire,
A sacred spark,
a soul entire.
Not just a dog—
no,
more than friend—
You are the means by which I mend.

No dosage marked,
no cost,
no pain,
And yet,
you set my world aflame
with hope,
with grace,
with something new—
A colorburst in shades of you.

So when the world forgets to care,
I turn,
and you are always there—
A masterpiece in fur and light,
My medicine through darkest night.
